Spinal Decompression in Hamilton
If back or neck pain from a disc issue is stopping you at work or at home, you’re not alone. Many patients find us after PT and medications haven’t helped and they want to avoid surgery.
Dr. Thad Rauch added spinal decompression years ago after seeing it help his father—and later used it himself for a bulging neck disc with about 95% relief alongside chiropractic and massage. You can start with a free consultation to get answers and see if this gentle, non-surgical option is right for you.
At Rauch Chiropractic & Rehab, we’ll listen, examine, and guide you through clear next steps.
What Spinal Decompression Is—and How It Works
We use a Chattanooga DTS spinal decompression table, which treats both the lower back and the neck. This computer-guided system applies a gentle pull-and-release cycle while you lie comfortably on your back, helping draw disc material away from irritated nerves.
Who Spinal Decompression Helps
Decompression is most effective when the disc is the problem. It may help with:
- Bulging or protruding discs in the neck or low back
- Certain herniated discs, especially when surgery is being considered
- Pain that began after lifting, repetitive strain, or trauma
- Leg or arm pain, numbness, or tingling from disc irritation
An MRI can help pinpoint levels, but it isn’t required. We complete a thorough exam and in‑office X‑rays first, or review recent studies you bring. Some patients choose decompression only; others pair it with gentle chiropractic care and medical massage for better results.
What to Expect and Important Safety Notes
You’ll be secured with two straps—one to the table and one to a computer-controlled cable—while the spring-loaded table moves with you. Sessions are designed to be comfortable; knees can be bent or straight, and prone positioning is available if needed. Decompression can be appropriate even after procedures like a discectomy or ablation, as long as there’s no fusion or hardware in the area. If a region is surgically fused (including with cadaver bone), decompression is not indicated. Many people who see us as a “last stop” before surgery report meaningful relief, including a city worker who’s now about 70% better and back to swimming with his grandkids.
Why Choose Decompression
We perform a careful evaluation and on-site X-rays before care begins, and we’ll review options in plain language. Our DTS system treats both lumbar and cervical discs, a capability many tables don’t offer.
We’re cash-friendly, accept traditional Medicare, and provide superbills if you file out of network. Most new patients are seen within 2-3 days, and our team is happy to answer your questions.
